ACCESS LAND Co started out like most things probably…a couple of people that decided to leverage their skills and experience into a focussed thing that became their passion. We are a family business that is centered around land. We buy lots of it. We sell a good amount of it too. We develop it. We manage it. We know land. We love being in the land business.
Born into an Air Force family, I (Andy) spent the first 12 years of my life living in 12 states from California to Florida. We spent countless weekends camping, and most of our family vacations were spent traveling throughout this beautiful country. This instilled in me a love of the great outdoors and an insatiable drive to explore. My formative years were seasoned with a wonder about places, both natural and constructed. I wandered into land surveying for my first real job out of High School, and worked all over the rural southlands. This led me to a degree in Environmental Science, and then to gather pocketfuls of professional certifications from various regulatory agencies. Slogging through the swamps eventually evolved into navigating the slippery world of developing land. Land planning reawakened my mind to so many of the curiosities I had growing up. However, like too much of a good thing, I found myself retrieving my soul from the cut-throat world of the speculators. I finally married my high school sweetheart (more about her below) and we settled into real estate brokerage and investment. In the mix I ended up adding a General Contracting license to my toolbox. With everything I’ve had a chance to experience, I get the most from buying and selling rural land.
It turns out Cathy has quite the land pedigree as well, as her dad owned his own business from the time she was in 2nd grade. Her dad built commercial buildings, single-family homes, churches, and multi-million dollar mansions on Jupiter Island in South Florida. She had to help with construction cleaning, open houses, stuffing the mailboxes at the local realtor association, and be dad’s #1 helper – nowadays they label it “training for entrepreneurship” or something. Cathy is no stranger to a construction site or a real estate office. Her stepmom was a General Manager for a real estate firm in South Florida and she’d go into the office with her on the weekends, sit at her desk and pretend that it was her own business. College came and went along with developing her talents and skills in administration and management. She spent many years in healthcare administration developing her ability to provide high-level service with accuracy, care, and professionalism. At the peak of that tenure, she launched, grew and sold her own healthcare business. Never thinking her life could get better, she reconnected with her high school sweetheart, Andy. So between school and Scouting for our teenager, her baking obsessions, demands from our dachshunds, and managing our various real estate projects and investments, she’s all in on land.
